SFF 2010

The Southend-on-Sea Film Festival in 2010 was a phenomenal success, with over 3,000 moviegoers attending films at the Odeon Cinema, Palace Theatre, Park Inn Palace Hotel, TAP, Central Museum, South Essex College, East 15, The Railway Hotel and The Sand Bar. Highlights included "Fathers of Girls" (the Opening Gala film, with star Ray Winstone in attendance),  "Sus" (the Closing Gala film), the first ever Southend Short Film Competition, Short Films from The Sopot (Poland) Film Festival, a 'Southend Archive' Film Event "Let's all go to the pictures ...In Southend", an exhibition of stills from classic films at the Beecroft Art Gallery, film making masterclasses at the Central Library  and the launch of The Shrieking Sixties, a comprehensive overview of British horror films from the 1960s, accompanied by a screening of "Witchfinder General", with members of the cast in attendance.
 


SFF 2009

Special screenings that took place during the first ever Southend-on-Sea Film Festival. 2009 included Shifty which was specially selected as the Opening Gala night film, short films from the South East Film Makers and the BFI, Time Bandits, Room 36, Cass, Inferno and Special People.
All these screenings were supported by actors and film makers who introduced the films.
